# ADR-[NUMBER]: [Short title of the decision]

**Status:** Proposed | Accepted | Superseded by ADR-[NUMBER] | Deprecated
**Date:** [YYYY-MM-DD]
**Deciders:** [Names / roles]
**Technical story:** [Ticket or reference, if any]

## Context

What is the issue we're seeing that is motivating this decision? State the
problem in value-neutral terms — describe the forces at play (technical,
business, team, timeline) without yet arguing for a solution. A reader who
wasn't in the room should understand *why this decision needed making* from
this section alone.

## Decision

What are we actually doing? State it in full sentences, active voice:
"We will use X for Y, implemented as Z." Avoid hedging — an ADR records a
decision, not a leaning.

## Rationale

Why did we choose the option we did, over the alternatives? This is the part
a governance forum will actually ask about — be specific about the
trade-off you accepted, not just the benefit you gained. If you can't name
what you gave up, you probably haven't compared the options honestly.
